Woman’s Tube Skirt (Tais Feto)

A three-panel cotton tube skirt with deep indigo color background and six rows of horses in supplementary-weft wrapping technique (buna). Similar piece, photo #20 page 312 in “Textiles of Western Timor” Yeager and Jacobson, description on page 210. Also attributed specifically to Ayotupas area in “Traditional Indonesian Textiles” by John Gillow, photo 119. The areas are adjacent and the districts have been renamed and divisions changed by the government throughout the years.
