ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Textile Museum library opens to the public on Tuesday – Sunday, following the museum's schedule. It holds around 3500 books, all of which are non-circulating. Like many governmental agencies, funding is limited; thus most books were donated by the museum's supporters. A substantial part of the collection were gifts from important scholars such as Judi Achjadi and Mattiebelle Gittinger, the pioneer of Indonesian textile study in the United States. These gifts represent their trust on the Jakarta Textile Museum to serve as the center of textile knowledge and research in Indonesia.
FUNDS NEEDED: $9000
This fund will be used to hire a digital media manager and a computer programmer for four months to build the library website and implement a library catalog database and its maintenance plan. The digital media manager will also train the library staffs and interns how to use the new catalog system.
Project time frame: February - May 2019
