Clareta Milena

Research Assistant

Clareta Milena’s deep appreciation for Indonesian textiles originated during her studies in Textile Craft at the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2023, where she concentrated on natural dyes and alternative textile materials.

Clareta went on to work full-time as a junior creative artist at a local Indonesian fashion brand, where she was responsible for creating textile designs that incorporate contemporary twists on traditional Indonesian techniques and motifs, as well as designing accessories.

In September 2025, Clareta began a four-year master’s program in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage with Textiles Specialization at University of Amsterdam. She received full funding from Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP). The focus of the program is understanding and handling heritage textiles, identifying damage and preventing deterioration, and applying these skills to both flat and three-dimensional objects, including banners and flags, costumes and costume accessories, and archaeological textiles.
